Forecast: Germany, Austria

Most of the readers of the MILK forecasts are probably spread around Germany and Austria at this time, so this forecast will be the first one sent by MILK that deals with the whole area.
Today in the morning it will be mainly fair in germany, in Berlin sunny. Only in the south of Germany there might be overcast skies. In SE Germany it will locally snow, same in East Tyrol and in Carynthia in Austria. Fog is to be expected locally in central Bavaria, and not so locally in  S and central Tyrol. In Far south Carynthia the snow might actually fall in flakes and not like in the other regions just for short times as very small flakes. The minimum temperature today is around 1°C in N Germany, 5°C at the coasts -1°C in central Germany, -2°C in S Germany and -2°C in Austria, only in the far E of Austria will there be warmer temperatures around 3°C. In the mountains of Austria, the ski-areas, the temperatures will be aroun -22°C this morning. Until noon the snow will dissipate, only some very small snowflakes may still fall in far S Carynthia in Austria. During the day a surprisingly rainy cold front will move into Germany from the W, bringing more clouds to the W of germany already in the early afternoon, and in the evening it will start to drizzle in W Germany. In the evening in Carynthia and NW Styria (Austria) it will start to snow very lightly and locally again. Todays maximum temperatures reach from -6°C in the mountains in Austria, 4 or 5°C in the lowlands of Austria, 4°C in Germany to 7°C at the north sea coast.
With the warm front the wind will pick up in the North Sea, and reach a “strong storm” classification on the bouford scale. In N and W Germany at that time MILK would issue a wind warning level 1.
So much to today.
Tomorrow in the morning most of the wind will have passed Germany. In the morning it will be quite frosty again, especially in the Alps.IN Austria, especially in East Tyrol the temperatures in the ski regions will drop to around -25°C, in high valleys the temperature will be only -23°C. In the lowland of Austria the temperatures will be between -2 and 2°C. In Germany in the SE -3°C, in the E -1°C and in the NW 3°C. At the coast 3-6°C, warmer at the north sea. In the morning it will snow in E Austria, and rain in far E Austria. It will also rain in a small stripe in central north Germany. In the rest of Germany it will be very cloudy, in Austria quite sunny. During the day the snow in E Austria will turn to rain more and more, and in the late afternoon it will only rain. In the evening once again two very rainy cold fronts that seem to be catching up on each other will approach Germany from the west, while in the E half of Germany it will be fair or clear. The maximum temperatures for Tuesday are between -4°C in the Alps, 5°C in the Austrian lowland and in Germany and 6°C at the north sea coast. Since in that night new year will be celebrated, this forecast will be extended for that period of time.
In the late evening slowly rain will move in from the W, while further east it is still not very cloudy, often even considered as “sunny” (in the night). In the Styria it will be quite cloudy at that time, in the rest of Austria quite nice. At MIDNIGHT, new year, the wind might be a slight problem for people planning to shoot fireworks in NW Germany, where it will peak with around 60kmh. W Germany will be rainy, and at the edge of the front there is a slight chance that there will be very light snow. Most of Germany will be cloudy, so around 4/8 of the sky covered, it will be nicer the further E you go. In Austria it will be relatively cloudy in the E, and quite clear in the W. But that doesnt matter, you can see fireworks ayway even if its cloudy. Because amateur fireworks do not fly higher that 800m, usually only 80m.
