Frost in Central Europe?

There was already something like an early winter. Frost, even some very local snow in the mountains. But now it seems as if it would change to be warmer. Is that true? Well, here is the forecast for the minimum temperatures in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (and Liechtenstein).

Tomorrow it will, in fact, stay very mild. Only extremely locally in East Tyrol there might be -0°C. On Tuesday it is a little cooler. In East Tyrol and in Carynthia the temperatures are expected to drop to -0 or -1°C.

On Wednesday no frost at all is forecast. Looks like it is really going to be mild?

On Thursday the temperatures might drop to -0 or -1°C at the border between Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Will it really stay warm? NO.

On Friday will sink to -12°C in E Switzerland, -11°C in S Tyrol. -7°C will be widely spread throughout  S and E Switzerland, temperatures of -8°C are expected in the rest of Tyrol. In Salzburg even there will be -3°C. IN S Geramany temperatures will hover between 0 and -1°C

It will be by far colder on Saturday. Down to -18°C at the border between Switzerland and Austria. -13°C widespread in S Switzerland, under -3°C in the rest of Switzerland. -10°C In Tyrol. Temperatures of around -8°C In S Germany, around -7°C in the W half of Austria. Minus degrees N until central Germany.

On Sunday the temperature in the same regions will be between -8 and -1°C

Will it snow in central Europe?

The question that everyone in central Europe is currently asking: will it snow soon? In the last couple of days the temperatures dropped under 0°C in many places in Germany. The M.I.L.K. weather station in Berlin Steglitz registered a low of 2.2°C. All weather stations were cold enough for snow to fall. But there was no snow. So now everyone is asking: when will it snow? Some people want it to snow as soon as possible, some want it to stay dry and mild as long as possible. But not depending on what you want, here is the first forecast for snow in the next week. Germany, Austria, Switzerland

In the afternoon of the 10th there might be the first snowflakes in southern Switzerland. The forecast is, though, by far more shocking: In the late afternoon of that day it will snow extremely all throughout S and E Switzerland, as well as Vorarlberg and parts of Tyrol. In the evening Extreme snowfall is expected in S and E Switzerland, W Austria and wide parts of S Germany. Local snow in Germany is possible as well. In the late evening the snow will continue falling in S and E Switzerland, the W Half of Austria and light snow will fall all throughout S Germany. But in Austria the snow is expected to have extreme intensity. It will continue snowing in the night.

In the early morning hours, the snow will retreat from Austria, still covering the W half, and move into W Switzerland. It will still often be extremely strong snowfall. In the morning it will continue snowing in W Austria, central, far SW and E Switzerland, and in S Germany. The greatest amounts of snow are expected to come down at the border between Switzerland and Tyrol and the surrounding areas. Around 45kg/m² of snow are expected in the morning there then. Still before noon, East Tyrol will have a high snow amount as well, while it will continue snowing in W Austria, E Switzerland and SW Germany, and in East Tyrol. In the afternoon the snow will melt in wide parts, just in W Tyrol and in E Switzerland it will stay, and continue snowing. The forecasts say that in the late afternoon it is expected that it will snow around Köln, far into central Germany. But it will stop snowing, except in S Switzerland. It will stop snowing, showing that there will be up to 55kg/m² snow in W Tyrol and E Switzerland.

The next day only some of the snow in the surrounding areas will melt.

On Sunday, in the morning, it will start snowing again, so that there will be about 60kg/m² for some time. In the afternoon it will stop.

First snow storm – USA

In the midwest of the USA there was the first severe snow storm. Just like here, in Rapid City, over 50cm fell at many locations.

Nothing will work in Rapic City.

Many people were surprised by the sudden winter

There was chaos on the roads

First snow in Turkey

Snow and chaos on the roads – It has now started snowing in northern Turkey. For example in Bolum, 700m high, there were chaos and therefore crashes on the mountainous roads. The weather system that caused this sudden winter was a low pressure area comping from Siberia, carrying a lot of cold, but still moist enough ari, making it snow in Turkey.
